Video: Candy Claws – On The Bridge
by Tim Weilert on Jul.20, 2010, under Videos
This is another video from the Candy Claws show last weekend. I finally got around to sorting and editing photos, so expect to see those soon. The song is “On The Bridge” a new tune from Hidden Lands, out August 3.
Candy Claws in Chicago – Catamaran
by Tim Weilert on Jul.18, 2010, under Videos
While I start to work on the huge pile of photos that need to be edited and sorted, I thought I’d post the first of several videos recorded at The Empty Bottle last night. “Catamaran” has to be one of my favorite Candy Claws tracks, and unfortunately this footage doesn’t really do it’s live rendition a proper justice. That said, go see Candy Claws in person when they come to your town so you can get the full experience.
Video: Passion Pit at Grant Park
by Tim Weilert on Jul.05, 2010, under Videos
Yesterday was the 4th of July. In downtown Chicago the heat was up and the streets were moving. Passion Pit played the last date of their American tour at the Taste of Chicago in Grant Park and I happened to be at the show. While I work on getting some photos and reviews done for the coming week enjoy this video.

by Tim Weilert on May.11, 2010, under Downloads, Videos
Woodsman has been a busy group as of late. In addition to prepping for a summer tour and new 12″ record they’ve been making the rounds in the blogosphere with a few new videos. The first comes via The Fader and is a 9-minute trip called “Smells Like Purple”
The second video here comes via Blood Drank Magazine and is a 3-minute excerpt from a longer performance titled “The Quiet Set.”
Woodsman will release Mystery Tape on June 6 on Lefse Records. A pre-order can be found here and a download of “When The Morning Comes” can be made here (right click “save as”). Listen to the track below.
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
The Beeremin IR
by Tim Weilert on Apr.21, 2010, under Blogs, Videos
One of the joys of being an engineer is being able to go from this:
to this:
I’ve been busy the last week soldering and testing this experimental instrument for LIMU 350 (Music Tech) here at CSM. The Beeremin IR is a different take on the classic theremin, except this one can convert those signals from your TV remotes into sound (as opposed to using disturbances in a magnetic field). To see more of the Beeremin in action watch the video below.

Here’s an update on the new Five Iron Frenzy DVD (a story we first started covering a while back). Today they posted the official trailer for their forthcoming documentary The Rise and Fall of Five Iron Frenzy. Watch it below and get pumped!
Video: Brand New – “Sic Transit Gloria” at the Fillmore
by Tim Weilert on Feb.04, 2010, under Videos
The video quality on my point-and-shoot isn’t very good, but the audio is decent (I did stand near the auditory “sweet spot” in the venue when I took this clip). As you can see, the crowd was quite energized from “Sic Transit Gloria,” one of Brand New’s more popular songs.
The Last Time (the video!)
by Tim Weilert on Jan.20, 2010, under Videos
Wednesdays are also kinda boring, but this video is not! If you haven’t heard the new Hello Kavita record, then you must! It’s one of the best albums of 2009 (I’d personally say that it beats any French indie-pop out there). Here are my random thoughts about the beautiful work that is Hello Kavita’s newest music video for “The Last Time.”
- Corey Teruya must have one of the most wrinkle-fee shirts in the entire state.
- Jimmy Stofer has one of the cleanest torque wrenches (or is it a large ratchet? I can’t quite tell) in the entire state.
- Everyone else in the band doesn’t have the cleanest wrench or the most wrinkle-free shirt, but they all take their sweet time being reflective and deep… it’s moving.
